Steve Chipman spreads the word

When I was in Austin earlier this year for the SxSW festival, I had the pleasure of meeting Steve Chipman. He’s extremely knowledgeable in JavaScript and the DOM, and he’s an incredibly nice guy to boot (as in, “he’s an incredibly nice guy as well”, not “it’s pleasurable to kick him”).

Steve works at the AOL campus in Dulles, a building which is home to a disproportionately high number of fun-loving, really nice people. Recently, Steve gave a talk to his colleagues at AOL about DOM Scripting and unobtrusive JavaScript.

You can now listen to the presentation and view the slides. He does a great job of explaining the benefits of good JavaScript.

Steve Chipman is clearly a hoopy frood who knows where his towel is. He certainly knows a lot about JavaScript. He even named his cat after the programming language.

What exactly is a "hoopy frood" anyway? And whats this business with me and the location of my towel? I feel like babelfish needs an en-us to en-ie/gb translator. :)

It just struck me out of the blue that that was a hitchhikers reference. Literally, right out of no where a month and a half after the fact. Phew. Not sure where my brain spends its time anymore.
